Operating Model for Operational Resilience

Client background

Our client was a global brokerage interdealer broker.

The challenge

The client required an operating model to deliver governance and new and updated operational processes to ensure embedment of its management of operational resilience as part of new FCA regulation.

The model needed to be appropriate for three separate legal entities, with separation of governance and operational processes whilst achieving cross-entity consistency and shared-service processes where applicable.

Our approach and contribution

Working in close partnership with the client’s management and SMEs we:

  • Designed and achieved management approval for a Business As Usual operating model for operational resilience.

  • Designed new processes for operational resilience activities, including a periodic self-assessment aligned to FCA regulation.

  • Reviewed existing process and policy materials and identified changes required to mature. existing operational processes to include additional requirements for operational resilience.

The outcome

As a result of our engagement, the client was equipped with an operating model for operational resilience, defined accountabilities/responsibilities and documented processes to enable upkeep, for each legal entity, of:

  • Operational Resilience self-assessment documents and associated artefacts.

  • Traceability back to the FCA regulation.

  • A Business Services Inventory, Important Business Services and associated Impact Tolerances.
